Born in Naples, Italy, Alessio Lacco, co-owner of Atlanta Pizza Truck, studied the pizza-making craft under master pizzaiolo Gaetano Esposito in Naples and earned certification by the AVPN in 2012. He opened his first AVPN-certified pizza restaurant in Dallas in 2013 before moving to California to work as an industry consultant, helping open restaurants in Indiana, Connecticut, Georgia, Oregon, Tennessee, The Bahamas, South America, Norway and several Arab countries. He and his wife and partner Sofia Arango started Atlanta Pizza Truck in 2020, and in 2021 it became the first food truck in the world to receive AVPN certification. In 2022, Lacco was chosen by the AVPN to open its first East Coast school in Atlanta. He is currently in the process of introducing branded pizza vending machines for Neapolitan pizza restaurants nationwide.
